Over the past decade, we have witnessed the remarkable transformation of the Indian smartphone industry, which has emerged to be a thriving ecosystem. Over the years, we have developed state-of-the-art manufacturing capabilities to be a vital contributor to the Make in India initiative. Today, all our phones that are sold in India are made locally at our manufacturing facility in Greater Noida. To further strengthen our commitment to the Indian market, we are focussing on understanding the Indian consumers’ need and therefore, have set our focus on ‘Design for India’. This flourishing industry has facilitated a well-established trade network, ensuring widespread access to smartphones across the country.

With the ‘Make in India’ initiative, the Indian government has and continues to take proactive steps to promote electronics manufacturing and smartphone exports. We, at vivo India, are committed to steering this initiative forward – in 2022, we exported the first batch of ‘Made in India’ smartphones to Thailand and Saudi Arabia in 2022; and is set to keep the trajectory going. Over the course of 2023, we aim to export over 1 million Made in India smartphones globally.

Exporting smartphones beyond our borders sets in motion a ripple effect that can breathe further life into the local economy through job creation, increased revenue and reinforced manufacturing capabilities. Simultaneously, it enables us, at vivo, to reach new markets and customers all while remaining steadfast to our commitment to innovation and quality.
